Controls Guide

Knowing the controls and UI locations in Destroy a Vault saves more time than any single early upgrade. This guide lists PC and mobile inputs, then maps the Settings/codes panel, upgrade boards, Smelter, Market, roll podium, and robot slots so you can run the Gold → Cash loop without wandering. Use it beside Getting Started on day one.

Destroy a Vault is a Roblox experience by LoopForge Studios, so default Roblox movement applies unless the game overrides a bind. If a prompt appears on screen, follow it — tutorial arrows point at the same stations described below.

PC controls

ActionDefault input
MoveW A S D
JumpSpace
Interact / use stationE
CameraMouse look (Roblox default)
ZoomMouse wheel
Shift lock (optional)Shift (if enabled in Roblox settings)

Interact is the critical bind. Almost every progression station — podium, slots, Smelter, boards, Market, codes — uses E when you are in range. If nothing happens, step closer until the prompt appears, check that another UI is not already open, and try again.

Mobile controls

On touch devices:

  • Virtual joystick moves your character.
  • Jump button performs jumps.
  • On-screen interact button replaces E when you face a station.
  • Pinch or Roblox UI controls handle camera zoom.
  • Open the Roblox menu for leave/respawn; in-experience Settings still hold codes and game options.

Mobile players should stand squarely in front of boards and the Smelter — touch interact can be pickier about distance than keyboard E. Rotate the camera so the prompt is visible before tapping.

UI map: what to find in your base

Settings and codes

Open the in-game Settings (gear / menu button on the HUD). Inside you will find options plus the code redemption field. Enter codes exactly, then confirm. Active starters include RELEASE, UPDATE, and 100K — always verify the live list on Codes because rewards and availability change.

Redeem codes at the start of a session so Cash and Gems enter the same upgrade cycle described in Economy.

Roll podium

The roll podium is where you obtain robots for free on a timer, buy rolls with Cash, or re-roll results. Stand on or beside the podium and interact to open the roll flow. Early game, take robots that fill empty slots; mid game, chase Index uniques and mutated variants. Luck systems are explained in Upgrades and Mutations.

Robot slots

Slots are pads where stationed robots attack vaults. Interact with an empty slot (or the placement flow taught in the tutorial) to assign a robot from your inventory. Buy additional slots with Cash when affordable — empty pads are wasted Gold, including during offline earnings.

Walk your slot line after every major roll session to confirm every pad is filled with your best available tanks.

Smelter

The Smelter converts Gold into Cash. Interact whenever Gold has piled up from vault breaks or offline time. Make this your first stop after login. Without smelting, boards and slots cannot be purchased even if the vault farm is healthy.

Upgrade boards

Multiple boards around the base sell permanent upgrades:

  • Robot Luck
  • Roll Spots
  • Robot Damage (priority #1)
  • Robot Battery (priority #2)
  • Vault Gold Value (late)

Interact with each board to spend Cash. Individual robot DPS upgrades are handled on the robot/slot side — see Upgrades for spend order. If you cannot find a board, rotate the camera around the plot; they are placed as readable stands near the play space, not inside a hidden menu.

Market

The Market is where Gems buy Mutation Cores. Interact to open listings, purchase cores, then apply them to keeper robots. Do not confuse Market Gem sinks with Cash boards. Mutation timing and targets are covered in Mutations.

Vaults and islands

Vaults are the destructible targets your slotted robots attack. You do not usually “control” vault damage beyond placing stronger robots and buying damage/battery. Island gates unlock stronger vault regions — island two also unlocks Robot Fusion. Approach island purchase stations when your Cash and clear speed are ready, not the moment the gate appears.

Suggested first-visit route

  1. Finish tutorial prompts.
  2. Open Settings → redeem Codes.
  3. Use the roll podium → fill slots.
  4. Watch vault damage, then interact with the Smelter.
  5. Buy a slot or Robot Damage on the boards.
  6. Note Market location for later Gem spends.
  7. Bookmark the Guides Hub for deep dives.

Quality-of-life tips

  • Keep the camera slightly elevated so podium, slots, and Smelter stay visible in one glance.
  • On PC, hold movement keys while tapping E as you approach a station to reduce stop-and-go friction.
  • If interact fails, close overlapping HUD panels first.
  • After fusion unlocks, learn that UI the same way: walk until the prompt appears, then interact — rules stay four identical non-fused robots.
  • Roblox performance settings (graphics level) can help on low-end devices; they do not change game binds.

Controls FAQ mindset

Most “broken” stations are range or UI-layer issues. Stand closer, face the object, clear other menus, press E or the mobile interact button again. The economy still follows Gold → Smelter → Cash → upgrades regardless of platform.

Master movement, interact, and the six landmark stations (Settings/codes, podium, slots, Smelter, boards, Market), and every other Destroy a Vault guide becomes easier to execute without getting lost in your own base.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Destroy a Vault questions.

What are the basic PC controls?

Move with WASD, jump with Space, and interact with stations using E. Camera uses standard Roblox mouse look and zoom.

Where do I redeem codes?

Open the in-game Settings or codes UI from the HUD, enter the code, and confirm. Check the Codes page for the active list including RELEASE, UPDATE, and 100K.

Where is the Smelter?

The Smelter is a station in your base. Walk up to it and press E (or tap interact on mobile) to convert Gold into Cash.

How do mobile controls differ?

Mobile uses a virtual joystick, on-screen jump, and an interact button instead of E. Stand close to stations so the interact prompt appears cleanly.

Where do I buy Mutation Cores and upgrades?

Cash upgrades are on the base boards; Mutation Cores are bought with Gems at the Market. Both use the interact key when you are in range.
