Islands Guide

Islands are Destroy a Vault’s progression gates. Each new island raises vault difficulty and reward potential, and island two permanently unlocks robot fusion. This guide explains when to push, how much Cash to keep in reserve, and which systems to rebuild after you walk through a gate. Use it with Getting Started, Economy, Upgrades, and Robot Fusion.

What islands actually change

An island unlock is not a cosmetic teleport. Expect:

  • Harder vault HP and longer clear times if your DPS is thin
  • Better Gold (and sometimes Gem) potential once you can clear
  • New mid-game systems — most importantly fusion on island two
  • Pressure on Battery and Damage boards that felt “fine” on the previous vault

Treat each gate as a gear check. If you buy access with zero Cash left and a Common-heavy army, you can stall income for a long session. If you arrive with a Damage/Battery buffer and filled slots, the new vault becomes an income upgrade instead of a wall.

Island one: learn the loop

The first island teaches the forever cycle: roll robots → place in slots → destroy vaults → smelt Gold into Cash → upgrade. Focus on:

  1. Filling every slot (Getting Started)
  2. Smelting often (Economy)
  3. Prioritizing Robot Damage, then Robot Battery (Upgrades)
  4. Redeeming Codes early for Cash and Gems
  5. Grabbing cheap Index uniques toward luck breakpoints (Index Luck)

Do not rush the next gate the second it appears. Comfortable clear times matter more than map novelty.

When to unlock the next island

Use this readiness checklist before you buy:

  • Current vault clears feel routine, not desperate
  • All slots are filled with your best available tanks
  • Robot Damage and Battery are not multiple tiers behind the vault
  • You have a Cash buffer after the unlock purchase — enough for at least one Damage or Battery buy on the new island
  • You understand what the next island unlocks (fusion at two)

If clears still take forever and slots are empty, spend on army quality first. Vault Gold Value is a late lever; it does not rescue a vault you cannot break.

Island two = fusion unlock

Island two is the first major systems gate. After purchase you can fuse four identical non-fused robots into a stronger unit. Fused robots cannot be fused again. That rule turns duplicates of strong types into planned projects instead of vendor trash.

Practical island-two plan:

  1. Save Cash for the gate plus a post-gate Damage top-up.
  2. Enter, place your best army, and stabilize clear times.
  3. Start banking duplicates of A/S-tier types for fusion sets.
  4. Fuse when you have four copies and the fused result will beat your weakest slot.
  5. Mutate fused keepers with Gems/cores when available (Mutations).

Deep rules and mistakes live on Robot Fusion. Do not empty your wallet on the gate and then sit unable to buy the Damage tier that makes new vaults farmable.

Cash buffer advice (do not skip)

A simple buffer rule: never unlock an island with your last Cash. After the purchase you still need:

  • Emergency Damage or Battery levels if the new vault is tanky
  • Slot money if you somehow still have empty pads
  • Optional unique buys for Index Luck without going broke

If a code like RELEASE or 100K is live, redeem before the gate so the gift pads the buffer. Spend UPDATE Gems on Mutation Cores for keepers after you confirm which robots survive the new clear times — not before you know your island-two board.

Vault difficulty and recovery

When a new island feels too hard:

  1. Smelt everything.
  2. Replace the weakest slot using the Tier List and Best Robots buying tips.
  3. Push Robot Damage, then Battery.
  4. Apply a Mutation Core to your carry if Gems allow.
  5. Only then resume Index hunting or fusion grinding.

Offline Gold still helps — set a strong AFK board before logout using habits from Offline Earnings, then smelt on return to fund the recovery buys.

Later islands mindset

Even when future islands add cosmetics or harder vault themes (Bosses-era pressure, Weather-era flair), the economic truth stays stable: clear speed funds everything. Themed patches may change title tags and reward spikes, but they do not replace Damage → Battery → slots → mutate → fuse. After a Bosses patch, re-check Bosses and Bosses Update so island pushes match the live difficulty.

Mistakes that stall island climbs

  • Buying the next island with zero Cash reserve
  • Ignoring fusion planning after island two
  • Dumping early Cash into Vault Gold Value instead of Damage
  • Leaving slots empty while sightseeing the new map
  • Spending all Gems before you know which robots are keepers on the new vault

Climb islands when your army is ready, not when the gate icon looks shiny. A buffered unlock turns Destroy a Vault’s map into a reward ladder; a broke unlock turns it into a stall. Keep smelting, keep Damage current, and let fusion on island two multiply the climb.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Destroy a Vault questions.

When should I unlock the next island in Destroy a Vault?

Unlock when current vault clears feel comfortable and you still have Cash left after the gate for Damage or Battery — never buy access with your last coin.

What does island two unlock?

Island two unlocks robot fusion: combine four identical non-fused robots into a stronger unit. Fused robots cannot be fused again.

How much Cash should I keep as a buffer?

Keep enough after the unlock purchase to buy at least one meaningful Damage or Battery upgrade and cover any empty slots on the new island.

What if the new island vault is too hard?

Smelt Gold, replace weak robots, push Robot Damage then Battery, and mutate your carry before grinding Index or fusion sets.

Should I buy Vault Gold Value before unlocking islands?

Usually no. Clear speed from Damage and Battery matters more. Buy Vault Gold Value later once you can already break the vault reliably.
